Powerline technology facilitates the transfer of data over internal power supply system. With the dLAN units from Devolo, multiple PCs can be networked via the mains without the need for any expensive, complex wiring. As power outlets are installed in most rooms, PCs and notebooks can be connected to the network flexibly and regardless of location. Internet access devices, such as cable or ADSL modems, whose location is determined by the cable or telephone outlet in offices or around the home, can also be accessed from anywhere via Powerline. Ranges of up to 300 m can be achieved, depending on the structure of the existing power cables. The dLAN units operate phase-independently, which means that multiple devices do not need to be run on the same phase. Encryption protects the data reliably from intrusion attempts.
